Mamak, Haymarket - Review

Mamak is a Sydney institution, serving up sweet and savoury roti along with other Malaysian staples. Don’t expect a fancy dining experience here - the focus is on the food, not the atmosphere!

Try the delicious roti and other Malaysian staples from Mamak, not for the faint-hearted and exploding with flavour.

The guys at Mamak make their delicious Malaysian roti fresh, and it really shows. We ordered the roti planta which was buttery and soft, as well as the chicken murtabak. The murtabak wasn’t as traditional as ones we’ve had in Singapore and Malaysia, but still tasty nonetheless. They are also known for their delicious satay skewers and sambal sauces, which are available to purchase and take home.

At less than $10 per roti dish, Mamak is definitely a winner if you’re looking for value. If you’ve never had Malaysian food before, this would be a good place to start!

UPDATE: Mamak also has a new location in Parramatta!
