Cheap Eats in Sydney Under $10

It’s 2023, but that doesn’t mean good food in Sydney has to be expensive! Here’s our list of restaurants with delicious meals - all for under $10.

El Jannah, Various Locations

Serving up arguably the best charcoal chicken, El Jannah comes in hot on our cheap eats list with plenty of affordable items on the menu. Our cheap picks under $10 are the hot chip roll for $9.90, or a crispy chicken burger that rivals KFC for $9.90 too. If you can spare some extra change, get yourself a cheeky tub of garlic sauce to take home as well!

Sinjeon, Sydney CBD

Sinjeon is an affordable Korean restaurant chain with locations all over the world. Sitting on Liverpool Street in the CBD, this spot is a great option for a cheap lunch or dinner in the city. One of the cheap dishes on the menu here at Sinjeon is the $10 kimbap (similar to Japanese sushi rolls) with various flavours to choose from!

Mamak, Parramatta and Haymarket

Mamak is a popular Malaysian restaurant known for their delicious roti. As far as cheap eats go, we usually opt for the classic roti canai plate coming in at $10. Served with curry and spicy sambal sauce, this roti is full of crispy on the outside, fluffy of the inside goodness.

Banh Mi Bay Ngo, Bankstown

We could easily eat rolls from Banh Mi Bay Ngo everyday of the week. Our recommendation here is the crispy pork roll for $8 - you’ll be satisfied with a beautifully crunchy banh mi packed with fresh, quality ingredients.

Oiden, Town Hall

Oiden is a popular spot in Sydney CBD for Japanese rice bowls. There's a huge variety of rice bowls on the menu, with proteins like wagyu beef, chicken karaage and stewed meat. There are plenty of cheap options here under $10, like the cheese curry plat for $9.90. Regardless of what you go for, we recommend adding a half boiled egg onto your bowl - it makes the rice extra creamy and delicious!

Mappen, Town Hall

Sister restaurant to Oiden, the menu at Mappen has plenty of cheap noodle options including udon, ramen and soba. The crowd favourite here is the udon soup, which you can get a large plain bowl for $8.90. We love how Mappen is almost like a Japanese noodle version of Subway, where you work your way down the counter for fast assembly of your meal.

Dumpling Bar, Cabramatta

Cabramatta is known for its Vietnamese food, but tucked away near Woolworths is a restaurant called Dumpling Bar, serving up homestyle Chinese dishes and dumplings. A plate of 6 pan fried soup dumplings comes in at just $9.80. And we must say, these are some of the cheapest and best dumplings in the area!

Caffeine Hit Cafe, Guilford

Caffeine Hit is a popular local gem for a late night healthy açai treat. They’re known around town for their delicious and affordable açai, which is smooth and creamy! A small açai bowl with granola and fruit at Caffeine Hit comes in at $10, and if you can spare an extra $1 you can go for toppings like peanut butter and honey.

Sri Desi Dhabba

While there are lots of places to snag a good meal deal in Harris Park, we find ourselves going to Sri Desi Dhabba time and time again when we’re in the mood for hearty Indian food. A small curry and garlic naan will set you back a measly $8, making for a filling and flavourful meal. Go for the butter chicken, you won’t regret it!
