Falafel Bowl with Sweet Potato Fries & Delicious Salad at Blackwood Pantry

Blackwood pantry

Tucked down an alleyway off the main Cronulla strip, Blackwood Pantry is one of the most popular cafes in this beachy suburb, and for good reason. This modern Australian cafe has locals and out-of-towners alike queue for their all-day breakfast and seasonal menu that’s equal parts aesthetic and delicious.

With plenty of colourful dishes on the menu, Blackwood Pantry does a great job at serving up Australian brunch classics with a modern twist. For those with a sweet tooth, try the made-to-order coconut hotcake, dressed with edible flowers, fresh fruit and sweet passion fruit curd. Drink-wise, Blackwood Pantry offers everything from artisan coffee through to sparkling wine. And whatever you do, don’t forget to order a plate of their famous sweet potato fries - these crunchy golden fries are seasoned to perfection, and served with a delicious truffle mayo dipping sauce.

We can’t go past their Southern Chicken Burger or the Beef Aioli Burger - both are loaded with fresh ingredients, and are great value. But real star of the show has to be the chips! We’re not sure how they make them so delicious, but we need the secret.

D Bowls Acai Bowls in Cronulla

D Bowls

D Bowls is known for one thing and one thing only: açai. While there are various combinations on the menu at D Bowls, our favourite order would have to be their traditional açai bowls. Filled with a delicious blend of house-roasted granola and fresh fruit, these açai bowls are full of flavour and beautifully presented. Do yourself a favour and add a scoop of homemade peanut onto your bowl - you won’t regret it! Since D Bowls is just a stone’s throw away from South Cronulla Beach, we usually find ourselves grabbing our bowls and enjoying them down on the sand.

Sandwich in front of graffiti art. Loaf, Cronulla.

Loaf

Take a simple meal like a sandwich, and make it amazing! That's the secret formula used by the Loaf team. If you're craving a great sandwich this is the place to go. Loaf is one of our go-to places for a bite to eat in Cronulla. Famous in the area for their revival of the humble sandwich and jaffle, you can expect to find all your favourite old-fashioned toppings at Loaf, along with some modern hits.

Our favourite order here is ‘the schnitty’ sandwich - lettuce, herbed mayo and chicken schnitzel. They use fresh thickly-cut brown or white bread, which is delicious and definitely worth the carbs. They don’t skimp on the mayo, which is a big plus in our eyes!

chicken Katsu poke bowl from Cronulla beach

Poke Bowl

Poke and the beach - name a better duo, we'll wait! If you're after a healthy, filling meal in Cronulla, Poke Bowl will be right up your alley. This casual restaurant has simple restaurant fit out, with young and friendly staff. There's and epic wall mural painted by local artist Mulga which gives the place a cool vibe.

The food at Poke Bowl is all about fresh ingredients and flavours. You can choose a selection of protein, vegetables and topping and make yourself a custom bowl, or order one of their standard combinations off the menu. We can't go past their 'I Dare You' bowl, mainly because of the chicken katsu - the portion is super generous, and it's always cooked to order which means it's deliciously crispy! Another favourite ingredient of ours is the yellow beetroot, along with their sesame dressing.

Miso Steak and Yakiniku Plates at Okami Japanese Buffet Cronulla

Okami

Okami Japanese restaurant is a newly-opened restaurant creating a buzz in the local Shire community. Just a stones throw from the main Cronulla Mall drag, it’s a great option for relaxed dinner with friends or a fun foodie date. For $35 all-you-can-eat, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better value Japanese meal in the area!

The highlight for us here at Okami was the beef carpaccio, drizzled with ponzu and wasabi mayonnaise. We ordered far more plates of this delicious dish than we’d like to admit! The miso steak came in at a close second, small bites of tender beef cooked to perfection.
