Super Nash Brothers, Sydney - Review

sando combo fried hot chicken at Super Nash brothers food truck

Nashville fried chicken is having a moment here in Sydney, and we’re not complaining!

For a taste of this trending chicken, one of the places on the tip of everyone’s spicy tongues is chicken joint Super Nash Brothers. While we’re yet to venture out to their brick and mortar stores in Waitara and Waterloo, we recently stopped by the Super Nash Brothers food truck for a taste of their chicken.

We went for the Sando Combo, which came with a burger, fries and extra chicken. There was a bit of a wait before our order was ready, although this was due to the team prepping and frying all the chicken fresh, so we couldn’t complain.

We can safely say, the chicken at Super Nash Brothers is not for the faint hearted! Biting into the meat was like a flavour explosion in our mouths. The chicken had a unique Nashville-style seasoning, full of  sweet and spicy elements. We watched as the chicken was fried to perfection, then tossed in a powdered spice coating. We would usually prefer a sauce style seasoning, however the powdered seasoning gave an interesting texture which we haven’t found anywhere else in Sydney. Even though the chicken was spicy, the heat wasn’t too overpowering.

While we enjoyed our Super Nash Brothers experience, there were a few things we felt could have been better. While the chicken pieces themselves were juicy, the whole meal together was a bit dry. We wish the stand alone chicken pieces and chips in the combo meal came drizzled with a creamy sauce to round out the meal. With this type of American style food, having sauce to balance out the flavours is key! We ended up ordering sauce on the side for an extra $2, which was much needed.

Other things to note - the sauce to chicken ratio on our burgers was also a little off, and our chips weren’t seasoned. We’ve seen pictures around town of other Super Nash Brothers’ burgers loaded with sauce and chips with seasoning, so maybe these were just one-off inconsistencies.

Overall, if you’re after a cheat meal with interesting flavours, Super Nash Brothers will be right up your alley. Our advice: get in early before the crowds and order extra sauce on the side!
