Saigon Hustle, Smithfield - Review

vietnamese fusion food, rice and chicken from saigon hustle

Usually when you think of fancy dinner and drinks, you’d picture somewhere treating yourself somewhere in the Sydney CBD. But what about in Western Sydney? Yeah, not so many options. Cue Saigon Hustle, a Vietnamese fusion restaurant and bar with all the neon light vibes of Southeast Asia.

Located on the main shopping strip in Smithfield, this gem is the perfect location for great food and drinks in Southwest Sydney. Walking into Saigon Hustle, we immediately felt a great social vibe. The decor almost reminds us of the late night scene along Lan Kwai Fong in Hong Kong. There are some great murals and fun neon signs scattered around the restaurant! The restaurant has plenty of seating and an impressive bar, along with room for partying on a dance floor down the back.

While late night partying would have been fun, we were here more so for the food. The team at Saigon Hustle takes traditional Vietnamese flavours transformed into a modern Asian menu.

We ordered a selection of food including:
Corned Ribs
Kingfish Ceviche
Popcorn Chicken
XO Roasted Bone Marrow
Vietnamese Charcoal Chicken
Lamb Cutlets
Truffle Mushroom Fried Rice
Fried Bao Ice Cream Sandwich

We weren’t sure what to expect from a Vietnamese fusion menu, but rest assured our tastebuds were pleasantly surprised. We enjoyed all of the dishes we ordered - flavours were and the seasoning was balanced. Our top picks were the Kingfish Ceviche for an entree, the Vietnamese Charcoal Chicken for mains and the Fried Bao Ice Cream Sandwich for dessert. The serving sizes were very generous, and we left very full!

Aside from the food, Saigon Hustle is known for their beverages - the drinks menu is longer than the food menu! They serve all the usual suspects, but we were much more interested in their Asian inspired signature cocktails. We ordered the Lychee Lavender Martini and 7/11 Pandan Slurpee. They were sweet and fruity, which is just the way we enjoy our cocktails. We’re not big drinkers, but these were to die for, and they paired perfectly with the food.

Overall, we had a great time dining at Saigon Hustle and would recommend to anyone looking for a fancier Asian restaurant in Western Sydney. We think this would be a place great spot for a special occasion dinner with friends or family. They also cater for functions is need be. We visited during the week, but we can definitely see this place going off on the weekends as well as local spot for a party.
