Ice Kirin Bar, Burwood - Review

gelato ice cream at ice kirin bar burwood

Ice Kirin Bar is a unique ice cream parlour with a dedicated following of sweet lovers. It’s a popular place for diners to experience Asian-inspired and tea infused ice creams - and they now serve ice cream pineapple buns and daifuku, or mochi wrapped ice cream!

Located on the main Burwood shopping strip and close to Westfield Burwood, you can’t miss Ice Kirin Bar - it usually has a long line of patrons waiting out the front. Once inside, the shop is pleasant and staff are friendly. It’s a place designed for takeaway, with just a small bar seating area. There are a variety of flavours to choose from, with everything from Roasted Oolong to Strawberry Calpis. All ice creams at Ice Kirin Bar have an Asian twist, which is something unique on the Sydney ice cream scene.

Ice Kirin Bar serves premium ice cream, and their prices reflect this. We loved the look of their fun ice cream scoops in a cup or cone, but ended up opting for a 500ml takeaway container - in our minds, it was more ice cream for a better price. We went for the Uji Matcha and Kuki Black Sesame flavours, and boy are we glad we did! Both flavours were ultra creamy and had bold flavours. If we had to pick a favourite, it would probably be the black sesame. If you’d like to try their ‘daifuku’ mochi wrapped ice cream, it’s $1.50 per scoop - they have limited numbers per day, so make sure you visit early to avoid missing out1

Overall, we think Ice Kirin Bar is a great spot for ice cream in Burwood! We would definitely visit Ice Kirin Bar again if we were in the area. If you love sweet treats, pop this place on your list.

Ice Kirin Bar also has a newly opened location in Regent Place in Sydney’s CBD.
