Hotpot City, Bankstown - Review

meat, noodles and vegetables ready for hotpot cooking

Hotpot City is a bustling restaurant in the heart of Little Saigon Plaza in Bankstown. It's a great place for having dinner with family or friends, offering a popular all-you-can-eat hotpot buffet for $37/person.

After paying and getting settled at your table, it's time to pick your soup flavour. Each person has their own individual hotpot base, and there's the option to have a half/half hotpot for an extra fee. Once the soups are sorted, make a beeline to the buffet station and load up on all your hotpot favourites! There's a great variety of meat, seafood, balls, vegetables and noodles to choose from. Our recommendations are the sliced pork, water spinach and fresh noodles. The staff are constantly filling up the buffet station with fresh ingredients, so you don't need to be worried about things being left out for too long.

And what would hotpot be without dipping sauces? Hotpot City have a great little sauce bar with plenty of different condiments, so you mix up your own signature flavour. Their 'may the sauce be with you' sign is definitely a highlight! Our favourite dipping sauce combo would have to be a mix of sesame, hoisin, sesame seeds, soy sauce, and crispy onions.

Our advice is to go slow here at Hotpot City - the food isn't going anywhere! When your soup starts running low, the staff will top it up for you. You can adjust the settings on each individual heating element as well, so your soup doesn't overboil. When we're getting close to the end of our meal, we like to crack an egg into the hotpot and turn the remaining broth into an egg soup.

While the quality of food at Hotpot City may not be as good as some other premium hotpot places, it's definitely great value for money - we haven't got any complaints! Judging by how busy the place is, we'd say most other people feel the same. Aside from their all you can eat buffet offering, Hotpot City also has a selection share platters like fried chicken. They also have a bar for alcoholic drinks.

Overall, Hotpot City is an awesome place to stuff yourself silly with delicious hotpot!
