Bourke Street Bakery, Kirrawee - Review

pastries from bourke street bakery in kirrawee

Bourke Street Bakery has several locations across Sydney, and recently we gave their Sutherland Shire location a go for a tasty lunch.

Their Kirrawee location is a small freestanding cafe tucked down the back of the suburb’s industrial area. You won’t stumble on this hidden gem by chance, you’ll have to search this one out - but you’ll be glad you did!

As the name suggests, Bourke Street Bakery specialises in baked goods - delicious sourdough loaves, pies, sausage rolls, cakes and pastries. They also have a gourmet selection of sandwiches, salads and drinks available. Upon approach, You can smell the delicious aroma wafting through the air, a welcome change from the metallic smell of the surrounding factories… That’s how you know you’re in the right place!

Even though Bourke Street Bakery has several gourmet pie flavours, our favourite would have to be the regular beef. We can confirm though, they’re anything but regular! Buttery pastry, slow cooked beef chunks, flavourful gravy, and visible carrots and peas - we haven’t seen a humble pie this good around town before. The pork and fennel sausage roll was also a standout for flavour.

At $6.50 per pie Bourke Street Bakery is more of a gourmet feed, but these aren’t your average servo pies so it’s completely justified. Nothing beats fresh pastries out of the oven, however they also have frozen options for you to take home and bake yourself.
